About Us

The Navi Mumbai branch of IAP was conceived by informal meeting of local Pediatricians of Navi Mumbai which started in the year 1995. The branch was officially formed in the year 1996 and was then known as Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Navi Mumbai branch. The founder President of the branch was senior Pediatrician Dr. P.S. Moralwar and Dr Vijay Yewale was the hon. Secretary then.

Since then the branch has increased in size to its current strength of 125 members. The activities of the branch too has increased exponentially.

In the year 2010, the branch was registered as a society with the name “Navi Mumbai Association of Pediatrics” (NMAP).

Currently the branch is headed by Dr Subash Rao as the President and Dr Shilpa Aroskar as the Hon. Secretary. The other members of the executive committee include: Dr Jeetendra Gavhane, Dr B G Ranpise, Dr Madhavi Ingale, Dr Sushmita Gupta, Dr Shantala Murthy, Dr Satish Shahane, Dr Sandeep Sawant ,Dr Piyush Jain , Dr Mahendra Tople Updating the knowledge of pediatricians & making them socially aware are two major aims & objectives for which this Association has always strived for.

One of the major activities undertaken by the IAP since its inception has been to organize Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs by holding conferences, symposia, lectures and other meets in Navi Mumbai.

Inspite of being a young branch, NMAP was co-host in 2 successfully conducted National conference of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics-PEDICONs viz. Pedicon 2003 and Pedicon 2007. NMAP has also hosted state conference MAHAPEDICON successfully in 2001, 2012 and 2014.

NMAP continues to hold monthly cme for the Pediatricians of Navi Mumbai. These cme’s are so popular that Pediatricians from neighborhood Mumbai and Thane also attend it.

On the social front the Association has been actively participating in programs of the NMMC with regards to child health viz High Risk newborn OPD project, School Health check-up camps, Neonatal resuscitation education to nurses and para medical staff, Kangaroo mother care workshops.
